Wellness for Mindful Travelers

Wellness and travel can be seemingly opposite words of one another. Often when you’re on the road, you’re forgoing the luxuries and comforts of your own home to embrace new adventures. Traveling for me, used to be all about escapism. It used to be about escaping what was going on at home and embracing a booze infused chaos for days until I had to return to normalcy.

But there’s another way to travel. Travel doesn’t have to be an escape, it can be a homecoming. Soulful travel that focuses on mindfulness and wellbeing is restorative. It’s nourishing. It’s the peace you feel after a morning yoga class and joy you feel reaching the viewpoint of your mountain hike. It’s waking up hangover free, full of gusto and gratitude.

There’s another way to travel, and it informs a truer, more mindful way of living. Rather than escaping myself, I’m focusing on embodiment and deep presence.
